This Privacy Policy explains how APPLLAB LLC ("DateX", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the DateX mobile application and related services (the "Service"). We collect only what we need to run DateX and to keep the community safe.
18+ only. DateX is a dating service intended solely for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will remove the account.
1. Information we collect
a. Information you provide
Account details — when you sign in with Google we receive your email address and a unique account identifier. A phone number is optional and is a profile field you type in yourself, not something we take from your sign-in.
Profile details — your name, date of birth (used to confirm you are 18+ and to show your age), gender and who you want to meet, photos (including any optional gallery photos), a short bio, and optional details such as your city, interests, job, education, height, relationship intent, religion, and star sign. Because your gender and who you want to meet are stored together, that combination may reveal your sexual orientation; we treat it — and your religion, if you provide it — as sensitive personal data, and use it only to show you relevant matches.
Photo verification — if you choose to get verified, a selfie you submit for review. It is stored privately, is never shown to other members, and is reviewed by DateX staff only to confirm your profile is genuine. It is deleted when you delete your account.
Content and interactions — your swipes/likes, matches, and the messages, flirts, letters, photos and voice notes you send or receive through the app.
Safety reports — information you submit when you block or report another member.
b. Information collected automatically
Device & usage data — a push-notification token, your device time zone, and your last-active time (used to show presence like "Online" / "Active recently"). We do not collect your device model, operating system version or app version ourselves; our SDK partners named below may collect their own technical data.
Advertising identifier — DateX shows ads to members who are not on a paid plan. Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) uses your device's advertising ID, your ad interactions (impressions, clicks, rewards) and an approximate location derived from your IP address to serve and measure those ads. You can reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings. Where the law requires consent — for example in the EEA and UK — we ask for it before any personalised ad is served, and you can decline.
c. Contacts (only if you use "Block Contacts")
DateX has an optional feature that lets you avoid matching with people you already know. If — and only if — you turn it on and grant permission, we read your device contacts' phone numbers to check them against DateX accounts and block those people for you. Numbers are used solely to create those blocks; we do not store your contact list, sell it, or use it for advertising or friend-finding.
We don't track your location in the background. DateX never follows your location as you move around. If you tap "Use my current location" while setting up your profile, we ask for one-time permission to take a single reading. Those coordinates are sent once to Google's geocoding service to look up the name of your area, and are then discarded — we never store them. Only the resulting area text, which you can edit or replace, is saved to your profile. You can always just type your city instead.
2. How we use your information
Create and operate your profile and show you relevant people to match with.
Enable matching, messaging, flirts, letters, and presence.
Send notifications you've enabled (new matches, messages, likes and, occasionally, updates or offers). You can turn these off anytime.
Process and manage subscriptions and purchases.
Keep the community safe — detect and prevent fraud, spam, harassment and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
Provide support and comply with legal obligations.
Where required by law (e.g. in the EEA/UK), we rely on the following legal bases: performing our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent (e.g. notifications, contacts access, personalised ads), our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, improving the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. Your profile and content are shared with other members as part of normal use of a dating app (for example, other members can see your profile, and your matches can see your messages). We also share information with service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to run DateX:
Provider
Purpose
Supabase
Database, file storage (photos), and backend hosting
Google Firebase
Sign-in/authentication and push notifications
Google AdMob
Serving and measuring in-app ads
Google Play Billing
Processing purchases and subscriptions
RevenueCat
Managing subscription status
Vercel
Hosting this website and our internal moderation dashboard
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our members or the public.
4. Payments
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Google Play Store. We receive your purchase and subscription status but do not receive or store your card or bank details — those are handled by Google.
5. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we erase your profile, all of your photos (including any verification selfie), your matches, messages, flirts, letters, swipes, blocks and notification history, and your sign-in account itself.
Three things are deliberately kept. Safety reports — both those filed about you and those you filed about others — are retained for up to 3 years with your identity removed, so that deleting an account cannot erase a record of abuse. Subscription and purchase records are held by Google Play and RevenueCat to meet tax, accounting and refund obligations. And we may retain limited records where the law otherwise requires it. Full detail, and how to request deletion without the app, is on our account deletion page.
6. Your choices and rights
Access & edit — view and update your profile anytime in the app.
Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in Settings or your device settings.
Permissions — grant or revoke location, contacts, notifications, microphone, camera and photo access in your device settings.
Block & report — block or report any member from their profile or a chat.
Delete your account — permanently delete your account and associated data from Settings → Delete account. If you've already uninstalled the app, use our account deletion page instead.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at privacy@datexglobal.com.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly to any issue.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
9. Children
DateX is strictly for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
